Mandatory Participation Events: (subject to change)
Initial Meeting: January 22 at the MRA Rodeo Grounds. 10am-- Meet and greet. Draw demonstration topics. Raffle tickets will be distributed.
Draw a partner to make a centerpiece for auction off at the kick off dinner/dance. Help obtain auction items for the kick off dance.
2nd Meeting: February 4th—5pm Turn in your kick off centerpieces and auction items. Practice rodeo and horse knowledge with the Royalty Director. Decorate for the Kick Off Dance. Dunlap Community Center.
Rodeo Kick Off Dinner/Dance: This will be our 3rd mandatory participation event. Saturday, February 5th. Contestants to be there by 2pm. Contestants will introduce themselves at the event to the MRA and the public. Contestants will assist with the dinner and auction. Contestants are not required to stay for the dance. Dunlap Community Center.
March 5th– 10am . 4th meeting. This will be a Horsemanship Practice. Please bring the horse/mule that you are using for the competition. Helmets are encouraged. Sign ups for Gymkhana help will be done at this meeting. MRA Grounds.
March 12th-- . 1st Gymkhana . Squaw Valley Gymkhana. Help will be needed. Sign ups are at 8am. MRA Grounds. Not all members have to attend each gymkhana, sign ups will be done at the meetings before each gymkhana so help for these events will be spread around.
March – 26th. 10am Squaw Valley Rodeo Grounds. This will be our 5th Meeting. This will be a Horsemanship Practice. Helmets are encouraged. Please bring the horse/mule that you are using for the competition.
April – PENDING DATE - TBD . This will be our 6th Meeting. This will be a field trip. We will be going to a place (To Be Determined) to learn about horses/rodeo. Sign ups for help with the English Show and Gymkhana will be done at this meeting.
April 9th --. Squaw Valley Gymkhana. Sign ups at 8am.
April 16th-- . English Show. Contestants will sign up to help with the English Show. Not all contestants will need to be at this event. Sign ups at 8am.
April 23rd at Time To Be Determined Contestants will meet in Clovis to participate in the Clovis Rodeo Parade. This will be our 7th meeting. Contestants will not be riding horses in this event. This will be the day we do sign ups to assist with the Mule Show.
April 29, 30 and May 1. Mule Show -- Contestants will help at the mule show Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Day will be based on sign ups which will be held at the prior April meeting.
May 7th: Meeting/Practice at 10am at the Squaw Valley Rodeo Grounds. This will be our 8th Meeting. This will be a Horsemanship and knowledge Practice. Please bring the horse/mule that you are using for the competition. This will be the day we practice the Grand Entry for the Rodeo as well. Since this will be a large part of the day please bring a lunch item to share. Helmets are encouraged. We will do a potluck. Help for the remainder of the Gymkhanas will be addressed. Help sign ups for the playdays and cowboy days will also be addressed.
May 14th. Squaw Valley Gymkhana. Sign ups at 8am.
May 15th will be the Squaw Valley Mountain Rodeo Association Royalty Competition. Competition will start at 8am.
May 21 and 22 contestants will be a part of the Grand Entry for the MRA Rodeo. The 21st the winners will be crowned.
June 11th-- . Squaw Valley Gymkhana. Sign ups 8am.
July 9th-- . Squaw Valley Gymkhana. 8am Sign ups.
August 13th-- . Squaw Valley Gymkhana. Sign ups 8am.
August 27th – First Family Playday. Not all Contestants need to be at this event but help will be needed. Squaw Valley Rodeo Grounds. Sign ups at 8am.
September 10th -- . Squaw Valley Gymkhana. Sign ups 8am.
September 24th – Second Family Playday. Not all Contestants need to be at this event but help will be needed. Squaw Valley Rodeo Grounds. Sign ups at 8am.
October 1 – Squaw Valley MRA Cowboy Day. Not all members have to attend this event but help will be needed timing, food booth, and for gates.
October 8th -- . Squaw Valley Gymkhana. Sign ups 8am.
October 29th – Final Family Playday. Not all Contestants need to be at this event but help will be needed. Squaw Valley Rodeo Grounds. Sign ups at 8am.
November 12th-- . Squaw Valley Gymkhana.
*Please note meetings for the MRA are the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm at the Rodeo Grounds. *No meeting December 2010. |
